Setting Up the Shadow Government

The eventual purpose of this blog will be to set up a Shadow Government. Consider this idea for now somewhat open source, as I will take all good suggestions on how to alter the blog.

We'll start simple, by volunteering, and then electing members of one house in Congress. We'll begin with 100 members who will be the Senate. At first, they will volunteer, or be chosen or appointed if there are enough to choose from. We'll keep it simple too on issues. We'll have one new issue, discuss it for a week, and then vote on it, and have a result the following week. I'll be the first President, but we'll change that in time too, to elect someone for a period of time. I'll have veto power, but I'll try not to use it. After all, the purpose of the blog is democracy.

Over time, there will be added complexity until this thing might grow to become a "functioning" government, ultimately with real voter sway, and perhaps economic power, in the sense of being a PAC or something. I envision it also as a Hollywood movie, Shadow Government, a name used before but not in the sense I see it.

For now, our group will be an active way for people to engage in "real government" and get to express how they would vote if given the chance. It could be a source of new ideas for real politicians, and a kind of gage of public feeling, more genuine than just polls.

P.S. As you know, I lean right, but I want Shadow Government to eventually lean wherever its followers lean, with honest discussion and voting to solve our nation's problems. I personally feel that most of our solutions should be conservative, but not all of them. You will have your own opinions.
